& WORKING OF PARTS |
A
– FRONT PLATE |
M-1
IN-SIGNAL
Light In this bulb indicates proper flow of current from the mains.
|
M-2
DIGITAL VAC METER
This meter will Indicate the voltage of the current flowing.
|
M-3
OUT-SIGNAL
This bulb lights up when the current is flowing properly through the head
electrodes.
|
M-4
CIRCUIT PROTECTOR
If too much current flows through the circuit the switch will turn off
automatically and stop the current from going to the head electrodes applied
to the patients.
|
M-5
OUT-PUT SOCKET
This is used to insert the plug of the wire leading to the head electrodes
|
M-6
SWITCH
Turn to ON position before using the machine through the head electrodes.
|
M-7
IN-PUT SOCKET
Insert the proper end of the accompanying wire into the in-put socket
and the other end into the electric mains (220V, AC)
|
M-8
SELECTOR SWITCH: This knob can be turned
for three positions:
(a) C.S. (Cerebral Stimulation) In this position the Head Electrodes deliver
only D.C.AV. V15. This is used by some for minor brain stimulation. This
position should not be used for Electro Convulsive Therapy.
|
B
– HEAD ELECTRODES |
S-1
TEMPORAL ELECTRODES
These electrodes are fitted snugly on the temporal area on both sides
of the skull. The temporal areas should be cleaned with a cloth soaked
in saline water before every treatment.
|
S-2
HAND SWITCH
This switch should be pressed till a proper tonic and clonic convulsion
is obtained. It usually takes two to three seconds to produce the desired
effect. The auto-timer is set for a fixed period of 3 seconds and the
current will cease automatically after that period, even if the switch
is not released.
|
S-3
OUT-PUT PIN
This pin is inserted into the out-put socket (M-5) of the face plate.
|
Two
types of electrodes are supplied with the machine:
A Fixed Type. This is the commonly used type with which only bilateral
E.C.T. is possible.
B: Hand Held Electrodes. With this type of electrode bilateral and unilateral
E.C.T. can be given.
